This Weekend in its Various Forms

First off, here's a couple images of two things I made on Friday.
The second image is a collage/multimedia painting.
Image one is an interesting thing to me that I decided to post even though I normally wouldn't. The thing about this drawing is that I was just practicing drawing and painting in the pop surrealist style for several hours on Friday night, but this particular doodle/sketch somehow ended up getting a lot of attention, and I think for something that started out as a practice doodle, it actually turned out pretty good. So... here it is. Drawn using oil pastels.

Also, this weekend was/is ultimate arts weekend in Minneapolis, with festivals including Fringe, Loring, Uptown, Powderhorn, et cetera. So yeah. There was a lot of stuff to do this past weekend. OH and new exhibitions at various museums, interactive galleries, et cetera.

High School Painting Class. Woowoo!

It got bent up and broken because a certain someone (whose name I shall keep confidential, haha) leaned his car seat back on top of it and squished it and broke it. And I was sad. Also, I won three awards from the high school in this past week:

First, the "Super Senior" award for "Most Artistic".

Also, an honor for being one-act director with Ms. Jenna Geris. (We have our own plaque at the high school now!! Go see!!! Hahaha)

Finally, the Outstanding Contribution to Theatre award for the past four years.

Yay!

Tomorrow [Thursday, January 15th] marks the opening night of our one-act play, Conventional Behaviour by G.L. Horton!

If these images aren't enough to make you wanna come to our show, picture Ms. Jackie Rupp in a leopard-print slave costume and Kyle Groves in a skin-tight red jumpsuit. Unfortunately, I made the stupid decision of not choosing to put any images of them in those costumes in this blog ]= I guess you'll just have to come and see their costumes for yourself!! SUSPENSE. For real, though; come see our show. We worked hard on it, and it is pretty darn funny.

And don't forget the other two one-acts we'll be showing! Volpone and The Rules of Comedy will make you laugh, too; just not as much as Conventional Behaviour will ;]

Fun fact: I wasn't planning on tagging this post as "photography", but that first image of Meghan is so beautiful I just had to take credit for it as a photo =]

I'm also sending a shout-out to my co-director, Jenna Geris! WE DID IT, JENNA. WE DID IT.

We had a few complications, and now we've shifted things around a bit, and here's the new cast list:

So, here's our new cast--- and we are equally--- if not MORE excited because now we know that this cast is OFFICIAL. No more complications!!!!

Hm. Should I say this? Meh. Why not. At worst, you'll think I'm pompous for posting this...

Tonight was our theatre banquet for the fall show. It was VERY emotional for many of us seniors, knowing that this was our last fall banquet. [frowns]

This is pretty much the only place I feel comfortable posting this statement, because my blog pretty much exists solely so that I can try to market myself and brag.

Anyway, I won the Senior Over-all Contribution award for the fall shows in general. I'm pretty darn excited about it, I must say. It's reassuring to win such an award. God, I feel like a tool for posting my winning on the internet.

So, yeah. Feel free to comment! In fact, I prefer it! =]

Theatrical Performances and Various Whatnots

First of all, just thought I'd share a little graphic I made in my spare time. It's simple and isn't relaly applicable for anything, but it was good practice with Photoshop--- which even the most advanced designers still need to practice with--- and I think it turned out a'ight. Do you dig?

Secondly, I thought I should talk about Flowers for Algernon. As many may know, Prior Lake High School is currently performing a production of the show. And it's AWESOME. I don't have the rights to post any pictures of our cast, but I play Dr. Strauss alongside my fellow all-star cast and tech crew =] So if you haven't, you should check that out. And if you're in it, you should be proud of yourself because this show is looking good.

I'd also like to point out that Miss Jenna Geris and I will be directing a Winter One Act this year. It's called Conventional Behavior by G.L. Horton, and it's really fricken funny. It's a spoof on a Sci-Fi convention with a lot of fun characters and costumes. If you're interested, we encourage you to audition for our show or any other one act this winter! (But mostly our show! =P Haha!)

OR just come see it when performance time comes around :)
