A 2D project from way back... Accordion book of collages. I won't get into specifics.

Another big 2D project. This is my favorite class this semester because we do the most work in it.
I probably shoulda/coulda/woulda spent more time on this, but I wanted to plow through and get a lot done today, so here it is. Step 1 of the assignment was to gather photos on a certain theme from a short list of potential objects given to us (I chose toys which I developed more specifically into Barbies). Step 2 was to trace the objects and scan the 3 best tracings into the computer. Step 4 was to trace those tracings in Illustrator.
Then, the final step was to create 4 images using those tracings based on four words given to us in class, which went thus:
Image 1: Tension
Image 2: Isolation
Image 3: Force
Image 4: Distraction

This Weekend in its Various Forms

First off, here's a couple images of two things I made on Friday.
The second image is a collage/multimedia painting.
Image one is an interesting thing to me that I decided to post even though I normally wouldn't. The thing about this drawing is that I was just practicing drawing and painting in the pop surrealist style for several hours on Friday night, but this particular doodle/sketch somehow ended up getting a lot of attention, and I think for something that started out as a practice doodle, it actually turned out pretty good. So... here it is. Drawn using oil pastels.

Also, this weekend was/is ultimate arts weekend in Minneapolis, with festivals including Fringe, Loring, Uptown, Powderhorn, et cetera. So yeah. There was a lot of stuff to do this past weekend. OH and new exhibitions at various museums, interactive galleries, et cetera.

BABIES

Created at the Walker's misfit toy making workshop.
Images one and two display David's terrifying toy, consisting of a baby head, monkey flesh over the baby's head, and a gross mystery body that we can't identify for the life of us.
In the second image, you can see that David can remove the head of his toy. It's a pullstring that then makes the baby head vibrate. Cuz that's totally not creepy.

Mine's not very creepy. It's just cute, with a bunny body and a cute baby head and cutesy cartoony arms from an octopus and dragon.

Biology

This sculpture is composed of scrap pieces of flesh-toned nylons from sculptures past. They're pretty much just noosed up by some scrap rope. The piece hangs from the ceiling, to get a feel for how it is displayed.

Yep. Two posts within a very short period of time. Why not?

Fleshy Furniture Set

So... it's a miniature dining set. Made of clay. And it looks really fleshy. Which was the goal.
No, it's not supposed to look beautiful or accurate.
It's not very exciting. xP

I have a couple of other new things coming up for posting in the next couple days, so be on the lookout for those!

High School Painting Class. Woowoo!

• Image 1: Still life of pliers. Acrylic on paper.
• Image 2: Self-portrait. Acrylic on paper. I was making a silly face; I'm not just terrible bad at making my eyes even xD
• Image 3: Acrylic and copper wire on paper and vellum. Two layers of paintings.
• Image 4: Final. Inspired by Chris Natrop. Acrylic, paper, wax paper, bamboo skewers, clay, fishing line. It got bent up and broken because a certain someone (whose name I shall keep confidential, haha) leaned his car seat back on top of it and squished it and broke it. And I was sad. And now I hate this piece ]=

Also, I won three awards from the high school in this past week:

First, the "Super Senior" award for "Most Artistic".

Also, an honor for being one-act director with Ms. Jenna Geris. (We have our own plaque at the high school now!! Go see!!! Hahaha)

Finally, the Outstanding Contribution to Theatre award for the past four years.

Yay!

My last day of high school ever was today! =D

Yeah, yeah.

I'm not even gonna write anything about this one. It gave me a lot of pain and stress, and it still didn't turn out.

Oh well.

Foundation 3D Exhibit up at MCAD

Five images!

Images 1 and 2 are two angles of the same sculpture, and three is a detail of the seat. Materials: Found object pantyhose, safety pins, batting, rocks (used as weights inside chair), found object rug. And to hang it: fishing line, rope, wood cross.
The last two images are of my Bauhaus-inspired sculpture, which I've posted before, but now have better images of.

I promise I'll take photos of these in a photo studio, as well, to get much much much better images of them.

Both of these sculptures plus the rest of my class's sculptures from the same assignments will be up until Wednesday or Thursday in the main gallery space outside of the wood shop/auditorium.

That's about it. Any questions/comments/critiques? I must admit; I'm fairly proud of both of these sculptures--- they were a lot of hard work, and I've gotten great reactions for both of them!

Here's a canvas piece that it's taken me FOREVER to put up.

Ingredients: Acrylic paint, found objects (paint sample cards, illustration, random electronic device), hemp, and ink drawings (on paint cards), all on canvas.

I choose to tag this under "sculpture" because working on it was a 3D job.
